New License Renewal Procedures

The 2007 Nevada Legislature enacted legislation to allow the Nevada State Contractors Board to renew licenses biennially (every two years), instead of annually.  The change will begin with licenses that expire in January 2008.

The Board plans to phase in the transition to two-year renewals. Therefore, certain licensees will renew for two years in 2008, while others will renew for only one.  The transition will be complete in 2009.  Contractors will receive notification concerning their new renewal date in the 2008 license renewal application.

Sting Houses Needed

The Nevada State Contractors Board needs homes for future sting sites. Those interested in volunteering their home to help catch unlicensed contractors in the act should call the Special Investigations Unit at (702) 486-1160 or (775) 850-7838.

NSCB conducts undercover sting operations throughout the state. Each sting requires NSCB undercover investigators to set up a predetermined home site and pose as homeowners interested in contracting for home improvement projects.

The actual homeowners are never present for the stings and the home address is not publicized with the sting results.
